Who We Are!

The Border Riders Motorcycle Club “BRMC” is a not-for-profit 501(c)(7) organization for gay men who like to ride motorcycles and who like to go camping on their motorcycles. Our membership spans the Pacific Northwest with the greatest participation in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. areas. We are one of the largest and longest-running gay motorcycle clubs in North America. We welcome like-minded guests to our Meet & Greets, day rides, and to our monthly meetings and summer campouts with a sponsoring BRMC member.

August 2025 Campout Recap

For our Canadian outing this year we changed it up —way up— above 3,000 feet! Mt. Seymour Road ascends directly into the clouds above North Vancouver, and about two-thirds of the way to the ski area sits a nondescript (and in the summer, empty) parking lot with a group campsite at the back. It’s extremely spacious, not all that economical, and pretty noisy when people are headed up the mountain because it’s in the middle of a hairpin turn in the vertical highway.

The fully enclosed building onsite has a wood stove that has likely been used to smoke fish for several generations — the odor is permeating when the building isn’t ventilated. Several hardy souls used the fish building as shelter for two nights.

The forecast was for 2.5” of rain on Friday and half an inch on Saturday. The Friday rain did materialize so the campers didn’t, we arrived on Saturday and still had a good time. Most of the rain had passed by the time we set up camp but there were a few sprinkles and ever-present condensing fog. It really is in the clouds, so we got to see what the insides of clouds look like!

Canadian member Kevin S. and guest Peter M., along with US member Darryl H. were the hardiest of all as they rode their motorcycles to camp. We discovered that A&W is alive and well (not what the initials stand for) in British Columbia, serving frosty root beer and edible breakfasts. Instead of a day ride on Sunday we drove east to Stave Lake Dam for a tour of their carefully curated powerhouse museum. Our docent had so much information to get out during an hour-long tour that one could only pick up every third or fourth word, but we did get to experience the alarming snap and buzz of their wholly unnecessary Tesla coil demonstration, now with complimentary hearing protection! An early bird dinner with member Doug H. and guest Keith A. at Browns Socialhouse in Langley capped off our tourism day.

Thanks to our Canadian members and guests for a nice trip!

Gear Store

The Gear Store was active over the VD weekend. We had a couple hundred dollars in sales which helps keep the inventory fresh. As always, if you have any questions about the Gear Store Inventory, feel free to contact President Dennis or VP Ron. They will be happy to answer your questions.

From the Handlebars of the President

I travelled to BC for the August run most of the way on Thursday, arriving at the campsite on Friday because of travel times from Yakima. I got to the campground, and it was raining sideways with no end in sight so I returned to Burien. I missed those who braved the trip on Saturday..

I’m hoping to see many of you at Schafer this month depending on recovery from retinal surgery.
