Who We Are!
The Border Riders Motorcycle Club “BRMC” is a not-for-profit 501(c)(7) organization for gay men who like to ride motorcycles and who like to go camping on their motorcycles. Our membership spans the Pacific Northwest with the greatest participation in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. areas. We are one of the largest and longest-running gay motorcycle clubs in North America. We welcome like-minded guests to our Meet & Greets, day rides, and to our monthly meetings and summer campouts with a sponsoring BRMC member.

July 2025 Event Recap
The 2025 BRMC Special Event started off with a dinner of sausages at Alan & my home which was also the hub for all activities that weekend. In attendance were 11 people with members outnumbering guests. Members included Alan H, Stan C, Buck W, Bill L, Dale C, Dmitry B, & Jeff B, while guests included Jason S, Jerry K, & Larry S. As expected, Alan prepared a delicious meal and there was more than enough for seconds.
We had our first class on Saturday. We practiced our slow speed skills on various challenges offered in the Precision Maneuvering Clinic #1. On Sunday we did the PMC #2 which increases the complexity of the challenges to include multiple skills in one challenge. We practiced faster cornering, quick braking, & tighter turns combining it all in the various challenges. If you want to know what that looks like, watch this Police Motorcycle Rodeo video on YouTube. So, before you watch this video, let me be clear that we are not as good as this officer but this is what we are working towards. While we are not that good, we are good enough that most of us would not hesitate to ride behind one of these officers. Again, we would not win but I believe we could give them a good run. “Hey guys, could you widen those circles a little? You will have fewer cones to pick up if you do.” Sunday evening saw Tom C joining us and we got to spend time with him before the day ended.
On Monday, Alan headed to “The Ranch” in Central Oregon to get ready for phase 2 of this event, day-rides in Central Oregon. The rest of us rode to Pat’s Acres & spent a couple more hours riding our bikes on a go-cart-track. We learned how to align more than one corner at a time, delayed entry vs a sweep, appropriate speed, quick braking, & body positioning.
After the 3 days of intense advanced motorcycle classes, we were exhausted. We had a quick meeting during lunch and we decided to break into smaller groups and do our own thing. Buck & Bill rode out to Ripplebrook and did some off-roading. Dale, Dmitry, & Jerry went to check out a Troll. Jason went home to pack, take a nap & spend time with his dogs, while Tom & Larry headed back to Seattle. I went home to mow the yard, water, pack, and play with Paco. Except for Tom & Larry, we all met back at the house in time to have dinner together and prepare for our departure Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning arrived and everyone pitched in to help clean the house before Paco’s sitter arrived. With so much help, we were able to get KSU a little earlier than scheduled & enjoyed a slower pace to The Ranch.
Richard A & Don M arrived at The Ranch on Monday around the same time Alan did. It was so nice to see them both when we arrived on Tuesday. There was a lot of hugging, introductions, & catching up. After we settled in, we had another top shelf meal prepared by Alan.
Wednesday would be a full day as we all rode up Klickitat Canyon & up towards Glenwood. We took a break at the viewpoint about ½ way to Glenwood and took turns riding up and down the canyon as individuals. I continued to work on my body position & my lane position to increase my speed & safety in corners. We all worked on our own goals as we rode through that area as well as on our way back to The Ranch. It would end up being a long day so the ride back to The Ranch was a spirited ride.
Thursday saw us riding to Shaniko, Antelope, Fossil, Mitchel, & Prineville, before heading back to The Ranch. There is so much to see, traffic was light, and the roads are in such wonderful condition, it was an all-around, beautiful day. Jerry had to head home Friday so after we said our goodbyes, several of us went to Sisters Bakery for a snack. Once hyped up on sugar & carbs, we rode the McKenzie Pass Highway over the McKenzie Pass stopping at all the viewpoints along the way. It was my first time riding that very narrow roadway and it is a do again road for sure, wow. Jeff B showed up on Friday and spent the weekend with us. He was the only person who showed up for the July Campout but there were already 10 guys there, so it was still a good showing.
Saturday was a Butt Rest Day as people had to get ready and start packing for the ride home Sunday. I thank all those who chipped in to help with meals, dishes, and other housekeeping chores. I give a very special thanks to Alan for all the effort he put into the wonderful meals and for all the extra work he did to make this event such a success.

August 2025 Day Rides
Seattle
Saturday August 2nd. This will be a moderate to brisk paced ride with the possibility of a few little hard twists of the throttle now and then.
We’re meeting in downtown Tacoma at 9:30 AM at:
Corina Bakery
602 Fawcett Ave.
Tacoma, WA 98402
After some yummy coffee and baked goods, we will head out over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge through Purdy down to Shelton and out through some beautiful back roads. Along the way we’re going to stop at the Satsop nuclear power plant cooling towers which are a spectacular site. Don’t worry about becoming sterile after visiting this place, it was never commissioned to produce nuclear power before the whole project was cancelled on the 80’s. After that we will head to the Capitol State Forest where there is about 300 feet of decent gravel road before we get back to pavement and end up in the Olympia area.
I’ve done this road a few times and it’s really quite fun.
See you all Saturday morning in Tacoma!
