Who We Are!
The Border Riders Motorcycle Club “BRMC” is a not-for-profit 501(c)(7) organization for gay men who like to ride motorcycles and who like to go camping on their motorcycles. Our membership spans the Pacific Northwest with the greatest participation in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. areas. We are one of the largest and longest-running gay motorcycle clubs in North America. We welcome like-minded guests to our Meet & Greets, day rides, and to our monthly meetings and summer campouts with a sponsoring BRMC member.

June 2025 Campout Recap
Wyeth Campground outside Cascade Locks Oregon is a beautiful spot. Situated in deep trees of the temperate rain forest, green surrounded one on all sides. The freeway and rail line were close by, but fortunately not as disruptive to sleep as I had feared. Dennis H. was the first to arrive. He put up a pop-up canopy, which was much appreciated by those arriving through the rain soon after. Jerry K., Dale C., Andy H., and me. Jeff B. arrived by car. We were able to get tents set up in a break in the rain.
The six of us carpooled into Hood River for Thai supper. Tom had arrived by the time we got back. Dennis picked up firewood on the way back and we enjoyed a short fire before bed. Dennis made breakfast in camp, which was fantastic. Four set off for a day ride along old highway 30 followed by 2 in Jeff’s car. They made it to Crown Point Observatory. Jerry’s tent turned out to be of the non-waterproof type so he left for home midafternoon just before Stan arrived. After a bit of socializing, we had a short but lively meeting. The seven remaining went to Hood River for supper at Thunder Island. It was enjoyable surrounded by the greenery of the Columbia River. Unfortunately, the ice cream shop was closed by the time we finished.
Back to camp for a good campfire session. Rain showers over night but dry morning. Everyone packed by mid-morning. Tom led four of us headed north together but, arriving at Eagle Cliff, we got the news that the road east of Mt St Helens was impassable. We detoured south of the mountain. Having fallen packing up, my leg was giving me trouble and I left the group to expedite returning home via the super slab, while the others stuck to more scenic roads.
In all, a great choice of a run. There is much potential for a repeat at a later time.

From the Handlebars of the President
In June we ventured away from our normal activities as we did more outreach with our booth at Pride in the Park and riding in the Seattle Pride Parade in addition to our normal camping trip, meet and greets and day rides. So, June was a busy month with many events to choose from. Unfortunately, June once again proved itself to be a wet camping month.
July is also slightly different than normal, and the focus is on improving skills through classes from Team Oregon and a weeklong riding event culminating with the normal campout. So, there are plenty of things to choose from once again.
In August we return to our more normal schedule with a camping run just north of Vancouver, BC from Friday 8/15 to Monday 8/18.
I know summers fill up quickly but check your calendars and join us for the things you can.
Hope to see you when you can make it, and until then, keep the shiny side up!

June was packed with club activities, Pride, and the usual Northwest summer hustle where we cram a year’s worth of outdoor recreation into the few months with nice weather. I enjoyed Pride In The Park. I hope you’ll join us for some motorcycling and camping this summer!

June was a busy month with two pride events and a very wet camping trip.
Wyeth campground in Oregon was fine because the guys that were there made it fun. Even though it rained like hell for the first two days, Sunday on the ride home was quite pleasant and dry.
There were four members and one guest riding in the Seattle Pride Parade. It was fun as usual and a bit hot.
I'm looking forward to the motorcycle training classes and riding in Oregon this month.
