Who We Are!

The Border Riders Motorcycle Club “BRMC” is a not-for-profit 501(c)(7) organization for gay men who like to ride motorcycles and who like to go camping on their motorcycles. Our membership spans the Pacific Northwest with the greatest participation in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. areas. We are one of the largest and longest-running gay motorcycle clubs in North America. We welcome like-minded guests to our Meet & Greets, day rides, and to our monthly meetings and summer campouts with a sponsoring BRMC member.

Annual Banquet Recap

This year’s banquet was hosted by Treasurer Stan C. and club member Alan H. at the newly remodeled Robinwood Station community center in West Linn, Oregon. Our hosts arrived early to get everything set up at the venue. The club changed things up a bit this year with a potluck so we took advantage of the well-equipped kitchen.

After appetizers and the social hour we had a chili cookoff themed dinner with assorted dishes and sides. Attendees voted on their favorite chili for a prize awarded after dinner. The tasty chili by new member Jason S. and guest Eric A. won and Jason selected a knit cap for his prize from the Gear Store.

Historian Don W. prepared a nice slide show of club photos that ran on the big screen in the large hall/former firehouse garage. The program started with the US and Canadian national anthems sung a cappella. New members Jason S. and Jerry K. received their club patches and kudos from sponsor Stan C.

Milestone membership anniversaries were announced including 50 years for Honorary Member Roy S., 30 years for Emeritus Member Jeff B., 15 years for Road Captain Dale C. and 10 years for President Dennis H. Rider of the Year was awarded to Don W. for his tireless work on club history, photos and documents.

A professional Year-in-Review video by former member Dave J. capped off the program. Then, dessert (always a favorite) including Secretary Tom C.’s signature pies and cleanup. The new banquet format seemed to work well and was widely enjoyed.

From the Handlebars of the President

Our winter season is slowly coming to an end, days are getting warmer and good riding weather will be coming soon.  Next time you go into work put in PTO or vacation request for the third Friday of each month, May through September.  That way it is easier to join us for each of the riding/camping weekends and spend time with friends riding and socializing.  Be sure to check out the weekend trips that Dale has put together for this year.

Road Captain Rumblings

I really enjoyed the banquet this year. We had a lot of great guests, and two new members got their Colors!  Congratulations, Jerry K. and Jason S.!

And amazingly, we awarded a 50 year membership pin to Honorary Member Roy S. of Portland, Oregon. 50 years as member of the Border Riders Motorcycle Club! Tom C. and I went to spend some time with Roy on Sunday after the banquet. We had a chance to visit with him and hear some about the old days of the club and check in on him and see how he was doing. Tom was able to record a bit of our conversation to be added to our archives.

And speaking of archives, I just want to send another special thank you to Don W. for all of the work he's doing to gather and eventually make accessible all of the historical club documents and photos we have been able to collect over the years. Congratulate Don on being awarded Rider of The Year for doing all of this work for the club. And it is a lot of work. Thank you, Don!

Contributions of Photos & Stories

Please feel encouraged to send us your photos of our activities to News@BorderRiders.com. Please be aware that often your email client or and/or our storage system might downgrade the file size/image quality.

Club Archives - We are working hard to consolidate the digital archives. We recently added over 4,000 new photos going back to 2004, but there are still lots of gaps.

We need your help!!! Please consider scrubbing your image archives and submitting them to the club in the original size. This will help us complete the picture. (You will be given instructions on how to upload them to our Google Drive.)

Create folders if needed and include the year and month first, then your name. Event name is helpful but not required. For example:

  • 2021 03 Seattle Day Run – Don Pics

  • 2025 01 Don Pics

  • 2025 02 Don Pics

Also, if you do anything interesting outside the club, we’d love to hear about it. Send us a short story with some photos and we will try get it into the next newsletter. It doesn’t have to be motorcycle related to be interesting. We are very diverse.

If you have photos and stories to share, please send to news@borderriders.com
