Who We Are!

The Border Riders Motorcycle Club “BRMC” is a not-for-profit 501(c)(7) organization for gay men who like to ride motorcycles and who like to go camping on their motorcycles. Our membership spans the Pacific Northwest with the greatest participation in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. areas. We are one of the largest and longest-running gay motorcycle clubs in North America. We welcome like-minded guests to our Meet & Greets, day rides, and to our monthly meetings and summer campouts with a sponsoring BRMC member.

December Meeting Recap

The December holiday party was hosted by Jeremy W. and Ben K. at their home in Kent, WA. They served a variety of tasty hors d'oeuvres and a delicious meal of lemon chicken, meat loaf, vegetables, the fanciest possible mashed potatoes and a special Midwest-style dessert called Watergate salad.

Turnout was good so the white elephant gift exchange was a hit as usual. This year, club president Dennis H. encouraged attendees to bring something desirable instead of less useful gag gifts, and those who lucked into less-sought-after items got the chance to try again at the end.

Reader’s Corner

A place for you, the reader, member and/or guest, to contribute.

Tell us about your travels, adventures, mishaps, etc.

To contribute, send your story & pictures to News@BorderRiders.com

Keep in mind, you can write about a trip that happened over the summer. It’s doesn’t have to be something you did last month.

Gear Store

The Gear Store was active over the VD weekend. We had a couple hundred dollars in sales which helps keep the inventory fresh. As always, if you have any questions about the Gear Store Inventory, feel free to contact President Dennis or VP Ron. They will be happy to answer your questions.

From the Handlebars of the President

The club has meetings throughout the year at our campouts and during the off season.  Business is or can be conducted at all of those meetings, though rarely at the Christmas Party or the Annual Banquet.  However, the January meeting is the Annual General Meeting and is the most important one to attend even though it is not generally a riding event for most.

Important things happening this year include::

  • Election of officers

  • Election for 2 new members

  • Approval of the budget

  • Two changes to the bylaws

  • Discussion of simplifying the Victoria Day campout

  • Modification of the High Mileage Award

Be there to have your say and input on the future of our club.  For members with voting rights who are unable to attend and send regrets you will be contacted for the membership, officer vote and bylaw change for absentee voting.  Unfortunately your absence prevents you from participating in discussions about other items, so your attendance is as important as voting.

I hope to see you all at the meeting.

Road Captain Rumblings

Happy New Year's to all Members, Guests and Friends of the club!

Some of you guys ride your bikes year around. And some of us, like myself, I have to go out in the garage and check every now and then to see that it's still there and that nobody has stolen it!  What is the coldest temperature you've ever ridden a motorcycle in? What is the deepest snow you've ever ridden a motorcycle in?  Do you use a battery tender during these cold winter months or just let it sit?

This month is the clubs annual general meeting in Seattle. It's s a great chance for all members to have their say in the direction we want the club to be going.

The Christmas party was fun and I brought home a new friend:

Contributions of Photos & Stories

Please feel encouraged to send us your photos of our activities to News@BorderRiders.com. Please be aware that often your email client or and/or our storage system might downgrade the file size/image quality.

Club Archives - We are working hard to consolidate the digital archives. We recently added over 4,000 new photos going back to 2004, but there are still lots of gaps.

We need your help!!! Please consider scrubbing your image archives and submitting them to the club in the original size. This will help us complete the picture. (You will be given instructions on how to upload them to our Google Drive.)

Create folders if needed and include the year and month first, then your name. Event name is helpful but not required. For example:

  • 2021 03 Seattle Day Run – Don Pics

  • 2025 01 Don Pics

  • 2025 02 Don Pics

Also, if you do anything interesting outside the club, we’d love to hear about it. Send us a short story with some photos and we will try get it into the next newsletter. It doesn’t have to be motorcycle related to be interesting. We are very diverse.

If you have photos and stories to share, please send to news@borderriders.com
