Who We Are!

The Border Riders Motorcycle Club “BRMC” is a not-for-profit 501(c)(7) organization for gay men who like to ride motorcycles and who like to go camping on their motorcycles. Our membership spans the Pacific Northwest with the greatest participation in the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver B.C. areas. We are one of the largest and longest-running gay motorcycle clubs in North America. We welcome like-minded guests to our Meet & Greets, day rides, and to our monthly meetings and summer campouts with a sponsoring BRMC member.

April Meeting Recap

For the April meeting, the group convened at the home of member Kas C and his husband Chris M. in Vancouver, WA. The weather was perfect with comfortable temperatures which allowed the group to enjoy the sunshine together outdoors.

Prior to the meeting, the group picked through a donation of riding and camping gear made by past BRMC guest, Marty H. After the gear was picked over, the remaining items were collected by member Jason S. to be donated to fledgling riders taking their endorsement classes with Team Oregon.

The business meeting was held outside on the back patio with lots of good discussion centered around our standard business items as well as the upcoming plans for Victoria Day 2026. The group decided to change things up this year and instead of holding Victoria Day at Pine Flats in Ardenvoir, WA, we will set up camp at the Creek House just outside of Yakima, WA. This will make the food and logistics of the weekend less burdensome to attendees, allowing more time to ride and socialize.

After a delicious dinner of tamale casserole, the group dug into cookies and ice cream while continuing fun conversations. Toward the end of the evening a discussion of the board came Connect Four came up. Upon hearing this, host Kas C. disappeared and returned with a Kaiju sized version of the game. The entire group was captivated watching the Connect Four combatants square off in a game of wit and strategy.

Once the games concluded it was time to call it a day and everyone made their traditional rounds to say goodbye until we meet next month for Victoria Day.

April 2026 Seattle Day Ride

Seattle met for the April Day Ride at Portage Bay Cafe and then walked over to the Museum of History and Industry to see the “125 Years of Motorcycling in the PNW” exhibit. The first thing we saw was a high heel shoe motorcycle where the pillion is behind and above the rider in the top of the shoe. The exhibit was interesting with old bikes and a lot of history. The club was mentioned on their “Forging of Communities and Cultures” display.

May 2026 Day Rides

Portland

No day ride planned for May.

Seattle

Gentlemen, this coming Saturday, the 2nd of May is our monthly Border Riders Motorcycle Club day ride.

Finally, this nicer spring-like weather is getting me in the state of mind to get on my bike.

Meet us in Arlington at 9 AM for breakfast followed by a fun and spirited day Ride around that part of our beautiful Puget Sound area.

We’ll be having breakfast at 9 AM at:

The Stilly Diner
223 N Olympic Avenue
Arlington

We will probably head out on the day ride at about 10 AM so if you don't want to join us for breakfast be there by 10 and go on the ride with us.

Victoria Day Campout

The BRMC 2026 Victoria Day Weekend Campout is Friday May 15th through Monday the 18th at Dennis H’s Creek House, 3 miles west of Tampico, 22 miles west of Yakima.

Once again, the Victoria Day Campout will be the kickoff event to the riding season. Unlike previous years the campout will not be at Pine Flats, yet will still provide opportunities to ride and socialize just as we had there.

As in previous years we will have dinner on Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning, a barbecue dinner on Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning. The registration fee covers meals plus firewood.

All vehicles are welcome at this event, so don't hesitate to invite your member-sponsored non-riding gay relatives and friends. Although cages are permitted, we are a motorcycle club and would love to see bikers on bikes.

Be sure to bring a camp chair to hang around the fire as unlike Pine Flats there are no benches for the fire.

The Victoria Day Run officially opens on Friday, May 15th, but many attendees like to arrive a day early and help with setup and shopping. Friday morning some will go into Yakima for breakfast and shopping for the weekend. During registration you will be asked for your arrival and departure days.

Registration opens on Thursday, May 1st and will close at midnight on Wednesday, May 13th. This year, the registration fees are $110 for US Members, $80 USD for Canadian Members, $120 for US Guests (sponsor required) and $88 USD for Canadian Guests (sponsor required). Register Now!

From the Handlebars of the President

It’s May and the club’s riding season is about to begin.  At the April meeting we decided to move the Victoria Day Campout from Pine Flats to Tampico. It will be less work for all and amenities like running water, hot water, flush toilets, and shower on site. It will allow for more riding and social time. Many have been before, but unlike the cool nights of October don’t plan on using the garage for bunking, so tents just like Pine Flats. I hope many of you can join us.

Road Captain Rumblings

Hello gentlemen, Spring has definitely Sprung and it's really beautiful here in Burien Washington today. With this kind of weather, I do start turning my attention to my motorcycle and riding more than I do during the cold and gray months of the Puget Sound area winter.

I am very excited about Victoria Day for this year. I think we're going to have a lot more time to spend together and socialize and talk and get to know each other. That's what I love most about getting together with the club is talking with men who share a love of motorcycling and camping.

And don't forget (you know, I'm not going to let you forget) that taking classes with Team Oregon is so much fun and develops our riding and safety skills. And keep in mind that Stan C, Jason S and myself all have discount cards for the advanced classes coming up this season.

See you at the creek house for Victoria Day in just a few weeks!

Contributions of Photos & Stories

Please feel encouraged to send us your photos of our activities to News@BorderRiders.com. Please be aware that often your email client or and/or our storage system might downgrade the file size/image quality.

Club Archives - We are working hard to consolidate the digital archives. We recently added over 4,000 new photos going back to 2004, but there are still lots of gaps.

We need your help!!! Please consider scrubbing your image archives and submitting them to the club in the original size. This will help us complete the picture. (You will be given instructions on how to upload them to our Google Drive.)

Create folders if needed and include the year and month first, then your name. Event name is helpful but not required. For example:

  • 2021 03 Seattle Day Run – Don Pics

  • 2025 01 Don Pics

  • 2025 02 Don Pics

Also, if you do anything interesting outside the club, we’d love to hear about it. Send us a short story with some photos and we will try get it into the next newsletter. It doesn’t have to be motorcycle related to be interesting. We are very diverse.

If you have photos and stories to share, please send to news@borderriders.com
